LEICA M: ADVANCED PHOTO SCHOOL

Since the introduction of the M Cameras just over half a century ago, they have been the creative tool of choice for the professional photographer and ambitious amateur alike.

The "M", as devotees know, is credited with bringing about the emergence of photojournalism. Half a century after its release, the "M" still stands among the premier range-viewfinder camera systems worldwide.

The book begins with a detailed overview of each of the various Leica M camera bodies, and moves on to reveal the special characteristics of Leica M Lenses, and how each can be used to create compelling photographic compositions.

The Leica M range boasts one of the most complete lines of lenses and accessories, whose use and operation are covered in detail, from cases to Visoflex.

You will find comprehensive discussions of filters; applications for low, medium and high speed films; ways to capitalise on available light and shadow; when and how to use supplementary lighting; as well as understanding exposure meters and much more. It is well illustrated in black-and-white as well as many high standard colour photos as examples of the versatile Leica M Camera system.

Günter Osterloh's name is synonymous with Leica Photography. For many years a product manager at E. Leitz and then Leica Camera AG, he was a member of the Leica M design team. From 1993 to 2002 he directed "The Leica Academy". He has written many books about Leica Photography and contributed to LFI and Leica World.
